Novosco challenges market leaders with innovative connectivity service

Some of Northern Ireland’s best known companies have signed up for an innovative business internet connectivity service that is set to enhance competition and choice in the local market.

Belfast-based Novosco, which provides IT services to leading public and private sector organisations across the UK and Ireland, has invested significantly to be able to provide the new ‘Cloudstream’ offering.

Leading firms including Mivan, Tayto Group Ltd, sportswear company O’Neill’s, and Gordon’s Chemists, which has over 50 sites, have already switched to the service that is today being launched to the wider market.

It benefits from a significant investment by Novosco in its own fibre-optic ring in Belfast, and the company’s strategic alliance with Hibernia Atlantic, the organisation responsible for the deployment of Project Kelvin.

Novosco also provides customers with a back-up connection as standard with the service, and an iPhone app to monitor their connection.

Novosco director, John Lennon, says that it will provide significant competition in the market by offering businesses a better service at a lower cost.

“Internet connectivity is the lifeblood of many businesses, particularly the growing number of companies who are using cloud computing, as well as those who transfer a lot of data and those with multiple sites. A fast, robust, reliable connection that won’t let them down is absolutely essential,” he continues.

“We have been providing a business connectivity service to a select group of leading businesses, and we are very pleased to be able to now launch the offering to the market as a whole,” he adds.

In the areas of the 11 main Belfast exchanges, Novosco guarantees to provide the lowest priced fibre Ethernet service to businesses, which it can deliver due to the investment the company has made in its own fibre optic ring.

Novosco employs almost 80 people and has offices in Belfast, Dublin and Birmingham. Its clients include the largest universities and higher education establishments on the island of Ireland, government departments and agencies, major UK and Ireland health trusts, and many of Northern Ireland’s top 100 companies.
