Collecting the trophies in both the ‘Workplace Wellbeing’ and the much coveted ‘Best Place to Work’ categories, at the Irish News Workplace and Employment Awards is welcome recognition for the company culture and employee wellbeing focus that Novosco has.
Presented with the awards by Northern Irish funnyman Patrick Kielty, Novosco Operation Manager Susan Hill said, “I’m so proud at these awards, we put so much into ensuring employees physical and mental wellbeing are taken care of.”
Novosco have been recognised previously for being a great place to work, providing its team with such benefits as, an onsite Gym, Fitbits, healthy breakfasts, Westfield Healthcare, Mindfulness, and Acupressure Massages.”
The initiatives have been designed to improve all aspects of an employee’s health. As Novosco operate within a knowledge economy, many of Novosco’s employees are seated in front of a computer for much of the working day. To combat the negative aspects of this, up to 70% of all employees actively take part in the 10,000 steps a day Fitbit challenge.
Furthermore, 42% have taken some part in mindfulness and acupressure sessions, and almost half utilise the company gym. All of this has contributed to a reduction in Novosco’s absence rate in the past 12 months and has created the environment for Novosco to be named ‘Best Place to Work’ and winning the ‘Workplace Wellbeing’ award.
The company also sponsors the Novosco 10K Grand Prix, a series of 15 10K races throughout Northern Ireland and is currently in training for RowAMarathon, a fundraising event for Bowel Cancer UK, which will see Novosco, along with other local companies, covering 42km in 4 hours on rowing machines.
