Wilson Nesbitt Solicitors provides legal services to commercial /private clients in Northern Ireland.  With extensive IT requirements, Novosco has implemented many projects at Wilson Nesbitt including server virtualisation, desktop virtualisation, disaster recovery and Sharepoint intranet developments.    

As an online legal services provider and with more than 125 IT users, Wilson Nesbitt technology systems have to be accessible 365 days a year.  External intermediaries such as large UK banks and financial advisors also require 24/7 system access to track cases online.

Virtualised Disaster Recovery

Due to nature of the industry and with remote users in England, Wilson Nesbitt not only required 24/7 access to IT applications, but also a solid disaster recovery plan.  They approached Novosco to meet this requirement using virtualisation.  Servers were reduced from 20 to two physical servers, with the virtualised infrastructure providing the backbone to the disaster recovery solution.

Using server virtualisation technology and a secondary site for disaster recovery, Wilson Nesbitt has a platform that is stable, secure and redundant, so that if one site goes down then infrastructure can be quickly moved to a second site. 

 “It means if something happened to our HQ site in the event of a fire or flooding, then we can move to our second site in Bangor and be up in a relatively short time.  In a disaster recovery situation before, when we had phyisical servers you could have been talking about weeks as opposed to now rebuilding server files in a matter of hours”. 

Remote User Access

Citrix technology for remote user acess allows Wilson Nesbitt solicitors to flexibly work from home.  It has also allows their external base of clients to remotely access the system, for example financial institutions or intermediaries such as brokers.
