Spence & Partners offer a pension consultancy and actuaries service which employ 45 employees across two offices (Belfast & Glasgow), as well as having a number of remote home users.

Spence & Partners has been a customer of Novosco for approximately eight years.  During this time Novosco has provided consultancy and advice on system data management to ensure its integrity and consistency.  Novosco has also implemented server virtualisation using VMware technology, and have designed a robust data recovery plan.

Virtualised Server Infrastructure

Novosco has completed a staged virtualisation project at Spence.  Stage one involved the introduction of an EMC SAN Server as a storage solution for holding data on one server.   This was vital to the virtualisation project as it offered the ability to increase memory capability and easily expand in line with business growth.

“The server virtualisation project allowed us to take away the reliance on having several physical servers in the system that need updated…as we can effectively have one piece of kit that can hold multiple servers.   Stage two of the virtualisation project will give us the capability to introduce more virtual servers and also improve disaster recovery in the business.  If one virtual server goes down we will always have a back up available which gives us high availability in the event of any disaster.”

Novosco Managed Service Agreement

Spence & Partners have a managed service agreement with Novosco, which provides 80 hours per month of IT managed services.  This compliments Spence’s internal IT team and deals with day to day IT issues including server issues and general IT user experiences.
